Discussing American Culture Workshop

Every Thursday evening join us at Culture Yard for a discussion about modern issues concerning the ever-changing American culture.
A two-hour workshop hosted by Ariel Tudela, where he will lead discussions on topics such as immigration, eating habits, art and music icons. If you are interested in American culture and would like to get involved in an interesting debate then join Ariel to learn more about the way the United States has become what it is today.
This workshop is suitable for intermediate to advanced English learners and speakers. During the workshop you will have the chance to share your opinions amongst others and also discuss the differences between your cultural background to the US culture.

February 16th <The Chinese in America>
The United States has attracted immigrants from all over the world, looking for better life and job opportunities. Chinese Americans are one of the largest minorities in the US, and Chinese is said to be the third-most spoken language. We will look at the history of the Chinese coming to America and their contributions to the culture since the beginning of US history.
February 23rd <American Fashion>
Blue jeans, baseball caps, and big hair – the staples of American Fashion- Fashion has evolved over the past few decades mirroring the changes in society. American fashion has always strongly represented each time period and the culture of the people living during that time. Let’s explore and discuss the history of some iconic pieces of American fashion such as blue jeans, baseball caps and the “looks” that are America.
March Topics

March 8th -Social Changes in the 1960′s-
We discuss the struggles of blacks, women, and other minority groups in the 1960′s and how their issues and triumphs contributed to increased equally and a created a greater America.

What is Culture Yard?
