What are Intensive Chinese classes?
Intensive Chinese classes are available at 6 levels from complete beginner to upper intermediate level. They are designed to provide students with practical Chinese language skills for living and working in China.
The course is based on the ‘Experiencing Chinese’ textbook series and except for complete beginner levels is taught mainly in Chinese. Our skills-based classes focus on real-life scenarios to improve your Chinese quickly and effectively. At the same time, course participants are introduced to 200-250 new Chinese characters per level including the vocabulary and grammar structures needed to pass the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK).

How are the lessons structured?
Intensive Courses include 10 lessons per week (2x 50 minute sessions each day) Monday to Friday. In addition to the contact hours, learners can schedule individual sessions with teachers to discuss any difficulties.
Classes are held between 09.00am-10.50 or 11.00-12.50pm. In order to get the most from the program we recommend learners spend around 10 hours of individual self-study outside the class each week. Homework will be set after each class and there will be regular progress checks with teacher feedback.
Each lesson will include all 4 language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing using a range of communicative activities, structure practice and grammar exercises. Class size is limited to six to allow maximum interaction.
The course is continually under review and improvement so the exact structure can vary from lesson to lesson.

Schedule
Classes will be held at the Culture Yard in Shique Hutong in central Beijing 5 times a week (Mon-Fri). Participants receive 40 lessons of language classes over a one-month period.
Learners above HSK 1 can join at any time. For complete beginners (HSK1) see our schedule for opening dates.
Fee
The fee for each level is 2400RMB payable in advance. Discounts are available for purchasing more than one level at a time. See our terms and conditions before signing up.
