Play Mahjong in Beijing at Culture Yard

Mahjong is a game of skill, tactics and calculation that you can find locals playing in the street, in their homes or in specific Mahjong teahouses. With its immense popularity all over China, the rules have tended to vary from region to region. However, the basic rule is easy to learn and very exciting. With a little bit of stealing and skilful tactics and of course a bit of luck, a four-player Mahjong game is never dull.

Our local Beijing Mahjong “experts”, who heard the noise of Mahjong tiles being thrown around before they could even speak, know everything there is to know about the great Chinese invention. They will discuss the cultural background of the game and its popularity of Mahjong in modern Beijing, as well as teach you all their secrets to beating the game.

Location: Culture Yard, n.10 Shique hutong, Dongcheng Dist, Beijing – line 5 Beixinqiao exit C, walk left for 400 m.
