3. Conversational Chinese:

Beginner I – The Beginners 1 course is aimed at students with very little or no knowledge in Mandarin.  In this course there will be a focus on pronunciation. Students will learn to use Pinyin and to express the tones correctly, but will also learn how to write characters according to the correct stroke order.  Having finished this course, students will be able to introduce themselves and have a basic conversation on daily matters,  to express numbers, dates and time, directions and location, negation, and asking questions.  This course provides students with a solid foundation to interact with local Chinese people.

Beginner II – The Beginner 2 course is aimed at students who already have a basic level of Mandarin, and it will provide them with more characters and more sentence structures enabling them to express themselves more clearly.  Students will learn how to express large numbers, how to express some tenses in Mandarin, and they will learn about verb complements.  Students who take this course will eventually be able to have conversations about shopping (buying and exchanging), media, food, travel, and such.

Low Intermediate – The Intermediate Mandarin course is designed for students who already have a level in Mandarin which allows them to manage a simple conversation.  This course focuses more on acquiring knowledge which will allow students to express themselves more accurately.  More specifically, students will learn how to better express tenses in Mandarin, they will learn more verb complements, different ways to make a comparison, more adverbs and special sentence structures to express a specific meaning. The course will cover advanced communicative functions such as: invitation, declination, apology, regret, praise, etc. At the end of such a course, students will have acquired more skills of Chinese language and culture, enabling their Mandarin to be much more free and culture-appropriate.

4. Advanced Chinese:

Chinese Language and Culture Workshop – This workshop is aimed at students who already have a post-intermediate level of Chinese, and are looking to take their Chinese one step further, while learning about Chinese culture at the same time.  The workshops are run in Chinese. Our host chooses a different topic each week, and after introducing it to the students, and giving them a chance to discuss it and express their opinions about it. Please click here for more information.

Current News in Chinese Media – Joining this course will allow you to take a look into texts from different Chinese media.  The teacher will chose different texts from newspapers, blogs, magazines, and more, and compare them with texts on the same topic from foreign Media, in order to allow a look not only into Chinese language, but also a comparison between different points of view.

    Hi,
Do you also offer evening classes? Ideally what I’d be looking for is an equivalent of your 10 day intensive program, but at night.

    Thanks for letting me know.

    Cheers,
    Martin
