Learn About Chinese Tea in the heart of Beijing at
Culture Yard

Tea is an integral part of the history and understanding Chinese culture, which is why Culture Yard has specially designed a workshop series dedicated to Chinese tea through which you will start to understand and enjoy the different kinds of Chinese tea.

During the workshop series, you will learn about the history, growing process, different tea categories, preservation of each kind of tea, and tips on making it. Each workshop will be hosted by Jiang Jianfeng, a local tea producer, wholeseller and tea master and will include a seminar, demonstration and a tea tasting. So join the workshops and impress your friends with your new knowledge.
About the host: Jiang Jianfeng, originally coming from the tea-rich Zhejiang province started as a tea grower. With more then 12 years of experience and training in the tea industry, he currently runs a tea shop in Beijing, exports tea to Japan and teaches locals and expats about tea.
The workshop will be held in Chinese with an English translator.
Chinese Tea Workshop topics and dates
Introduction to Chinese Tea – learn about the basic, and most popular tea categories, including: Green Tea, Wulong, Pu-er (red tea), White and Flower tea.
- Black Tea + Pu-Er Tea - the most famous kind of the red tea, and the most similar to western teas, which is usually called “black tea”. The most famous Pu-Er originates in Yunnan province in the south of China and can preserve their flavor for the longest time.
- Flower Tea - while not coming from the same plant as all the above, flower tea is not a tea per-ce but consists of a group of different herbs and flowers that are sometimes mixed with green tea leaves. The two most famous kinds are Chrysanthemum and Jasmine tea.

- Green Tea – is the most famous Chinese tea. A non-fermented tea, has long been considered to have an extensive array of medical benefits, including: weight loss, prevention of heart diseases and even certain types of cancer. The green tea used in this workshop is from the freshest harvest of the year, from Zhejang province, our tea master brings you the best tea to try.

- Wulong (Oolong) Tea – a semi-fermented tea, has a complex production phase starting with withering under the sun, and later oxidization, finishing with curling and twisting. Especially popular in southern China and south-east asia, is considered to have the richest taste of all Chinese tea.
