Chinese Film Screenings At Culture
Yard, Beijing
Culture Yard holds weekly Chinese movie nights “China through Cinema” every Saturday at 19:30. Films are screened in Chinese with English subtitles.
Culture Yard’s Chinese Movie Night series introduces important directors and major trends in Chinese cinema over the last three decades, as well as its depiction of different aspects of modern and contemporary life in different parts of the Chinese speaking world (mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan).
Each month, the screenings will be organized according to a different theme. Every movie night starts with a short introduction, including historical and social background, information about the director and the movie, as well as notes on specific Chinese phrases used in the movie. The screening will be followed by an open discussion about the movie in connection to the theme.
When: Every Saturday from 19:30 to 21:30
Where : Culture Yard, Shique Hutong n°10, Dongcheng district, Beijing (Beixinqiao Line 5, Exit C, 400m to your left)
How much: 25RMB*, incl. free soft drinks, popcorn

A young woman in Hong Kong is living near a family who is staying in the area illegally. She ‘services’ dozens of clients per day and showers compulsively. Her pimp is assaulted with a durian in front of a young daughter of the nearby family.

is my fevourite movie.Everytime I watch it ,I feel sad.It tells us that only if we lose something do we realise that the one is the best one.But it’s too late! When time passed,it will never come back.

Hi ! What a nice selection !
I have a question : do you know where to find a copy of I wish I knew, of Jia Zhang Ke ? And others movies of him ? I can’t found it, i really wabt to see it …
I can’t come to the projections, even if i live in the same hutong ! I’m architect and i work late every night …
I hope you’ll have some information for me !

Hey Thomas – I bought a DVD copy of “I Wish I Knew” from that small DVD shop in the lane that runs along the left side of the Yashow Market entrance (just past fruit stall and convenience shop – has other Jia Zhang Ke titles, too I’d try FAB on Wangfujing Jie, too. Good Luck!
